Nintendo Direct Winter-Spring 2026 Predictions

With the February Nintendo Partner Direct done, what are you guys predicting for the next General Nintendo Direct? Pokemon Day is coming up quick, so I’m going to guess we won’t hear about a general Nintendo Direct until after that, so March or April, which will be after the Pokemon Pokopia release.

Things we know about:

  • TomodaDachi Life: Living the Dream (just had its own Direct, so we won’t be seeing that)
  • Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (absolutely Direct-worthy, since it’s slated for Spring 2026)
  • Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave (sometime this year)
  • Rhythm Heaven Groove (sometime this year)
  • Splatoon Raiders (really need to see more of that)

Aside from those things, what else might we see in the Direct?

I’m also thinking:

  • Post Mario Movie Mario Game (3D of some kind, with the Galaxy love it wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a Galaxy 3 on the way)
  • More GameCube releases
  • Some kind of Zelda Project (maybe this will be the year we get Twilight Princess and Wind Waker HD on Switch consoles hahahahahahaha)
  • Whatever Next Level Games is working on, probably Luigi’s Mansion 4? (LM3 sold a TON of copies)
  • Teaser for Mercury Steam’s latest Metroid project or something else they did
  • Wildcard: Star Fox or F-Zero (F-Zero feels more likely to me)

What do you guys think?

I agree for the most part.

They have to show more of Yoshi, whether a dedicated direct or general. Unless they push it back, but I doubt it. Same with Fortune’s Weave; although I’m not expecting that to come out until late summer. Still need some sort of new trailer this spring so they can start ramping up marketing, particularly in Japan.

As for Mario, I don’t think we get a reveal until summer or fall. Call me crazy, but I don’t think they are in a rush to get it out. With the longer development times, they are going to spread out major releases more. So maybe 2026 reveal but 2027 release.

Something Zelda is a good bet. They’ve been pretty consistent with getting some sort of Zelda title out every year. I would love either a WWHD or TPHD port, but wouldn’t be surprised if that meme lived on, haha.

I’m betting on a new Xenoblade game or just something from Monolith Soft announced this year with a 2027 release date. May not be until Fall direct, though.

I wonder when they’ll start MK World dlc. I could see them biding their time. My guess is 2027, but if they need to pad out this year, then late 2026.

Finally, LM4 seems like a good fit for holiday this year. Probably announce it during spring direct.

Feels like there should be one more big game for this year, in between Fire Emblem and LM4. Or after. Oh wait, that’s Pokémon, duh

Yoshi absolutely needs more info. It looks cute and fun, but that’s about all I really see out of it.

I can understand a fall or summer reveal for Mario, but I think they could really take advantage of the fact that the movie is out. They’ve been working on a new Mario for quite a while, Bowser’s Fury came out years ago and was clearly a testing ground for a 3D Mario that uses 3D world’s engine. Since we got DK Bananza last year, I could see them trying to “merge” the Odyssey/Bananza engine with the 3D world engine to make a fun experience. I can’t imagine there’s too much left to do on that before release.

I imagine there’s a Xenoblade-adjacent project. I think we’re done with Chronicles, for now. Monolith is run by madmen so they should have something soon.

Mario Kart World DLC also seems like a given especially since pretty much everyone with a Switch 2 has a copy of it. I think this was the main reason why we had BotW DLC, the install rate was simply so high.
